MUSTANG COUNTRY is comprised of the three communities of Sumner, Eddyville and Miller located along U.S. Highway 40 in the fertile Wood River valley of central Nebraska.  Our schools were consolidated in 1964, creating S-E-M Schools. Home of the Mustangs!  The first class graduated in the spring of 1965.  Approximately 180 students attend S-E-M, a class III K-12 fully accredited school.  Pupil to teacher ratio is nearly 10:1 per classroom.   Athletically we are a D-2 school, competing in football, volleyball, wrestling, basketball, track and golf.  Speech, drama, choir and band are offered.  We also have active FBLA and FFA chapters.

To help promote our school and community, Mustang Country CommUNITY Development was formed in 2005 to promote betterment and development. We are a member of The Nebraska Community Foundation, Inc., a non-profit, 501(c)(3) charitable organization that provides Nebraskans and former Nebraskans an easy way to give back to the state and the communities they love.

We are dedicated to the improvement and long-term viability of our community. We offer small town living with reasonably priced homes and are centrally located–thirty to forty-five minutes from Kearney, Lexington, Holdrege and Broken Bow.

Our economy is based largely on agriculture, and our beautiful hills and valleys offer habitat for deer, wild turkey, pheasant and other wildlife.

We enjoy a wonderful quality of life that will continue long into the future!
